Melbourne International Games Week is Asia Pacific’s largest digital games celebration featuring conferences, events and activities for the games industry, games enthusiasts, the general public and educationalists.
This year, over 1,000 game developers, many from overseas, will participate in key industry events including Game Connect Asia Pacific and Unite Melbourne, as exhibitors at PAX Australia, the Women in Games Lunch and the Australian Game Developers’ Awards.
Many more people from the general public to games enthusiasts will don their cosplay outfits and attend MIGW Family Sunday: Mario and Friends, PAX Australia and play Wayfinder Live, a scavenger hunt game by digital artist Troy Innocent. ACMI’s Code Breaker exhibition, celebrating the achievements of Australian and New Zealand women working in video games, continues until 5 November.
The Education in Games Summit, will inform teachers about new technologies supporting the delivery of the digital curriculum and showcase some of the more progressive schools in this space.
This year they welcome two new events to the program, international accelerator program Global Top Round and Parallels: The Freeplay 2017 Showcase, an experimental and alternative games showcase.
The week’s events are held in close proximity in some of Melbourne’s biggest and best event venues, from the Australian Centre for the Moving Image to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
